What You Will Be Responsible For:
Â·Assess patientâ™s nutritional status according to established standards
Â·Obtain necessary information from the medical record
Â·Develop nutritional care plan for patients of any age and culture
Â·Teach patients in both one on one and group settings
Â·Meet with family, when appropriate, to assist with diet, exercise and medication
Â·Evaluate the results of nutritional interventions on the patientâ™s nutritional status to determine the need to revise the nutrition care plan
Â·Provide follow up and support to the patient and their family by answering questions and providing education
Â·Interact professionally with all members of the interdisciplinary care team. Assist other members of this team to implement care plan for patient
Â·Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Â·Provide nutrition-drug interrelationship information to physician.
Â·Supervise Nutritional Services Technician in conducting nutritional screening and providing nutritional care to patients.
Â·Assist in orientation of new employees to the department
Â·Maintain and good working relationship both within the department and with other departments
Â·Meet current standards and policies when documenting
Â·Conduct inservices as requested by hospital staff and the community
Â·Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
What You Will Need:
Â·Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing required.
Â·Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Â·Completion of Undergraduate Nutritional Program and Approved Dietetic Internship which allows for completion of Registration Exam for Dietetics required.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Â·Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.
Â·Licensed Dietitian status by the State of North Carolina required.
Plan and deliver nutritional care to patients according to physiciansâ™ diagnoses. Perform as a member of the multidisciplinary care team. Screen newly admitted patients to identify those at nutritional risk. Supervise Nutritional Services Technicians and other support personnel. Exercise independent judgement under the general supervision of the Director of Nutritional Services.
