The Social Work Supervisor position is located at the Veteran's Administration Healthcare Systems located in Huntsville, AL with in the Social Work Department, HUD VASH. The HUD-VASH Social Work Supervisor duties include, but not limited to: The incumbent serves as the Program Coordinator for the Housing and Urban Development / VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program under the Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program The incumbent is administratively responsible for the HUD-VASH Program providing treatment and services to homeless patients. The incumbent manages the daily operations of the program and provides direct patient care services in the program area. He or She manages the daily operation of the program, develops policies and procedures for the program operation and prepares reports and statistics for the Birmingham VAMC, the VISN, and VA Central Office's use. The incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to this program regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. In conjunction with the HCHV Program Coordinator, the incumbent plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, patient and personnel activities for the HUD-VASH Program. The Social Worker is capable of practicing at the advanced level and has specialized knowledge of practice typically related to the homeless population. The incumbent supervises staff, including HUD-VASH Social Workers, RN and ancillary staff in multiple locations. Incumbent establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which Are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Incumbent is able to resolve informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. The incumbent provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters.
