This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more The VA Northern California Health Care system is currently recruiting a Senior Social Worker-General Mental Health for the Mental Health service in the McClellan, Redding, and Mather locations. This is not a virtual or remote position, but partial telework may be permitted. The incumbent will focus primarily on addressing the complex mental health needs of Veterans who often are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, behavioral health, financial, legal and psychosocial concerns. The incumbent provides advanced evaluation and treatment strategies to the full range of patient problems in his/her work setting, including evidenced based therapies, making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnosis within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Incumbent employs a high level of skill and expertise to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and/or their families. Incumbent is qualified to provide expert advice and consultation to professionals representing a variety of disciplines and is required to exercise independent and expert judgment in the selection of or adaptation of standard and accepted theories, techniques and practices, and is able to develop new techniques and programs for the treatment of clinical populations. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Assesses crisis situations, formulates crisis plans, provides crisis interventions and follow up intervention services, developing individualized treatment plans, with particular regard for addressing situations related to harm to self, others or grave disability. Provides specialized services for complex patients with service delivery to include intake evaluation, diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy and patient education. Best practices, practice guidelines and evidence-based treatment protocols are utilized to the extent feasible in all therapeutic interventions. Participates in development of a treatment plan for each patient with whom major contact is expected, with measurable goals outlined, based on relevant psychological, medical and psychiatric information and principles of treatment matching. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Completes all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system. Assists patients in the preparation of materials needed for applications to various agencies for entitlements. Serve as the clinic consultant for information on negotiating the complex processes patients encounter when interacting with government and community agencies. A recruitment/relocation incentive may be authorized for highly qualified individuals for the Redding location. The salary range for Redding is $81,364 to $105,778 annually. The salary range for Mather and McClellan is $88,675 to $115,282 annually.
