This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The staff psychologist holds a state license to practice psychology and has at least one-year pre-doctoral work experience and one year postdoctoral work experience as a psychologist in the VHA or a comparable professional setting. The psychologist applies advanced professional psychological diagnostic methods and evidence-based intervention strategies to a full range of patient problems in his/her work setting. S/he has advanced knowledge of psychological diagnosis, intervention, and behavioral health that qualifies him/her to provide advice and consultation to professionals representing a variety of disciplines. The primary job functions of psychologists at this level include the provision of direct psychological patient care, consultation services on difficult or complex cases, and routine psychological evaluations where appropriately requested. In some cases, the staff psychologist is also asked to provide education of staff, including classroom instruction, in addition to supervision of trainee's clinical work. Likewise, they may have research, staff supervisory or administrative/managerial duties as needed and when approved by their direct supervisor and other supervisors when applicable.
