The Neurorehabilitation Clinical Psychologist (Neuropsychologist) position is in the PMR Service at the JP campus of the VA Boston Healthcare System. The Clinical Psychologist works with the multidisciplinary team of the TBI/Polytrauma service, provides direct clinical care (including Cognitive Rehabilitation therapy; neuropsychological and psycho-diagnostic evaluation; alternative treatments like LED treatment/ training, and treatment monitoring); oversees the treatment planning and care coordination for veterans with TBI at the LED TBI Clinic, and provides supervision and training for the LED TBI clinical team (e.g., clinical assistant, clinical coordinator, and telehealth clinical psychologist). Serves in a leadership role developing, evaluating and implementing Virtual Care Cognitive Therapy and LED TBI Treatment Programs as part of the TBI/Polytrauma service. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely screening and documentation requirements, and participates in various service, committee, and departmental meetings. 1. Direct Clinical Neurorehabilitation Service Provision: a. The Clinical Psychologist provides direct patient care services for veterans with TBI in the TBI/Polytrauma Service. This includes a full range of psycho-diagnostic, cognitive rehabilitation, and virtual care treatment planning services. These assessments include screening for traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and other disorders that may affect cognitive functioning and neurorehabilitation treatment. b. Provides Neurorehabilitation therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Rehabilitation and LED TBI evaluations/treatments. Selects and provides the most appropriate neurorehabilitation treatment regimen in providing quality care. c. The Clinical Psychologist is responsible for the LED clinical service within the LED TBI Clinic and ensures that current LED TBI protocol guidelines are followed. Takes the lead in guiding the clinical team meetings and facilitating the process of coming to a consensus (together with the TBI/Polytrauma clinical staff) regarding patient diagnosis and LED treatment planning. 2. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the LED treatment services provided to the patients coming through the LED TBI Clinic. Provides leadership, guidance and clinical supervision to the LED TBI Clinic staff. Works closely with the clinical assistant, clinical psychologist, and clinical coordinator, to ensure that he clinic runs smoothly and provides efficient, quality care to patients. In addition to providing clinical services to patients, the incumbent is also responsible for consult disposition and coordination of services with TBI/Polytrauma clinic. Responsible for organizing the clinic and establishing a team meeting with LED clinical team to review cases and integrate findings in order to develop an appropriate treatment plan for each patient. 3. Consults with TBI/Polytrauma service staff and other medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Serves as a consultant to medical center staff and trainees and assists in their formulation of the psychological and neuropsychological characteristics and appropriate treatment options and treatment expectations for TBI patients. 4. Completes administrative functions, including report and progress note writing, and attending staff and organizational meetings. Other administrative duties include monitoring telehealth sessions administration, and supervising patient care management and the treatment protocol adherence within Virtual Care and LED TBI Clinics. 5. Clinical Neurorehabilitation Program Development and Evaluation: a. Oversees the implementation of Neurorehabilitation Treatment Program within PMRS. b. Creates and implements protocols for measuring and tracking patient improvement. c. Assesses the efficacy of empirically based neurorehabilitation treatment programs and adjusts future treatment program as necessary to enhance clinical care and outcomes. d. Develops and evaluates Virtual Care and LED Treatment Program for chronic TBI at the LED TBI Clinic, using program evaluation and quality assurance processes and directly monitoring the LED intervention. 6. Works in compliance with local and national performance measures. Complies with psychology service peer review procedures, maintains professional license by participating in continuing education activities, and updates credentialing in a timely manner. 7. Responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by local and national guidelines. 8. Other duties as assigned.
