Supervisory Social Worker at the GS-12 grade level typically supervise professional and nonprofessionalstaff at the GS-12 and below level. The incumbent is responsible for the professional and administrative management of Transitional Housing Program (THP) program. Incumbent may also provide direct clinical services. The Supervisory Social Worker at the GS-12 grade level is independently licensed at the Advance Practice level and has experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. At least two years should be in one area of specialized practice in the Senior Social Worker's professional discipline. Supervisory social workers must be able to provide supervision for licensure. As a Social Work Supervisor, the incumbent supervises and assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, and overseeing the Clinical and Administrative operations of the THP program. Incumbent will also provide direct supervision to Social Workers. The incumbentwill assure the Staff whom they supervise are aware of, adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meet current Joint Commission and CARF standards, State licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations. The Social Work Supervisor provides orientation and on-going training to subordinate staff and takes responsibility for providing opportunities to help staff update their clinical practice skills and acquire new knowledge in contemporary treatment modalities. The Social Work Supervisor provides both administrative and technical supervision to the staff as assigned. The incumbent is expected to set priorities, make assignments according to capabilities ofemployees, and oversee personnel management functions of staff assigned. The incumbent has established guidelines and performance expectations for staff, and clearly communicates the through the formal employee performance management system. He/she receives and disseminates social work practice and resource information to social workers at the facility TRAVEL REQUIRED: Occasional by car to travel to Veterans Transitional Housing Programs and or in the community to assist Veterans with housing as needed and also to conduct site visit of contract agencies.
