The Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Clinical Social Worker provides clinical social work services to the Veteran population served by the Kansas City VA Medical Center within the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (MHC). The BHIP Clinical Social Worker has experience that demonstrates advanced practice skills and advanced clinical judgement with at least 2 years' experience in an area of specialized mental health social work practice. The BHIP Clinical Social Worker must be clinically licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. Incumbent performs specialized treatment of complex mental illness, incorporating complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and individualized treatment of Veterans within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Incumbent must demonstrate a high level of skill in assessing and treating the complicated psychosocial and psychiatric problems presented by the Veteran population. Incumbent will provide comprehensive psychoeducation to Veterans with mental health diagnoses. Social work duties include, but are not limited to, completing psychosocial assessments/screens including differential diagnosis, development of collaborative treatment plans, providing individual and/or group therapy, crisis intervention, open access triaging, and care coordination of referrals to community-based and VA services. This position serves as a resource to other members of the Mental Health multidisciplinary team, as well as other healthcare providers within the Medical Center. Incumbent may be asked to provide social work coverage in all areas of the Mental Health Service Line, and will be expected to provide on call coverage for the acute inpatient unit, on a rotation basis. Must possess diverse skills and a basic understanding of all program guidelines and standards. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm, with evenings, weekends, and/or adjusted tours as needed to ensure quality care to veterans. Participation required in the on-call weekend rotational schedule for inpatient psychiatry coverage, on-call pay will be provided. Telework: Ad Hoc only as needed.
