This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more The GS-13 Mental Health Supervisory Social Worker (MHSSW) will serve as a fully qualified supervisory social worker directly supervising the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Manager in Eugene, The PCMHI Program Manager, The CBOC Coastal Manager, the Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Coordinator, and all staff on the Suicide Prevention team. Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs the administrative and clinical oversight to the BHIP Manager, PCMHI Manager, Coastal CBOC Manager, the MST Coordinator and the Suicide Prevention Team. Performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised, including staff training and orientation to the programs they work in. Incumbent will have established guidelines and performance expectations for staff, clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques. Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Incumbent works to resolves informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters. Provides oversight and management of all Social Work professional and qualification standards within the Mental Health Department and will work with the Chief of Social Work and serve on the Social Work Professional Practice Committee to ensure all standards are met. . Works with Human Resources to ensure that the recruitment process of MH Social Workers; posting, interviewing, selecting, boarding, orientation and hiring of social workers meets all VA and social work standards. He or she will also work with the SW Chief and HR to meet ongoing education, training, licensing requirements for social work staff. Consults with other MH Leaders on any assessment, evaluation, treatment planning, note templates or progress notes that impact social work within the MH department. Having consultative authority, the Mental Health Supervisory Social Worker (MHSSW) serves as a vital professional influence and resource to Local Leadership in their compliance with standards defined by accrediting organizations, such as The Joint Commission of Hospital Accreditation (JCAHO) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards applicable to Social Work in Mental Health. Partners with the Chief of Social Work to consult with other Services, program managers, or care line managers on issues pertaining to Social Work ethics, ethical dilemmas in the delivery of care, and ethical issues within the Mental Health Department and the larger organization when appropriate. Consults with the Chief of Social Work on social work trainees when it comes to maintaining academic affiliations for social work practice and field placements for trainees in the MH Department. Serves as a member of the Mental Health Leadership Team and MH Executive Committee and will work alongside the ACOS of MH, Chief of Psychology, Chief of Psychiatry and other designated MH Leaders to strategically plan and implement policies, procedures, mandates, initiatives etc. for the entire MH Department. This position will also provide coverage for other Service Chiefs including the ACOS of MH when needed. Works primarily in outpatient MH and will collaborate and consult with other assigned MH staff, MH Teams and other professionals around the facility to provide a full continuum of services to Veterans in outpatient and or inpatient MH. The incumbent may be asked to cover and or be the surrogate for different staff or teams throughout the MH Department as long as incumbent's licensure and qualifications allow. Provides a wide range of professional mental health services to address the complex issues (i.e. psychiatric, medical, vocational, educational, and social) faced by veterans seeking services at the Roseburg HCS. Records clinical information in the medical record according to prescribed standards, and collects and maintains required statistical information. Participates on a variety of service and facility committees, task groups or special projects or work groups to assure compliance with outpatient and inpatient agency directives and goals, and contributes to the delivery of health care services to veterans per direction of the ACOS of MH.
